The Insurance Stipend Program for Childcare Providers will provide a stipend of up to $3,600 a year to assist with the cost of purchasing health coverage in the State of Kansas.

What is the Child Care Professional Insurance Stipend Program? 

  • Administered by Thrive Allen County
  • Reimbursed up to $300 per month for paid insurance premiums
  • 3 disbursements for reimbursement
  • All health insurance plans are eligible for reimbursement (ex. Family, Spouse, Individual, etc.)
  • Approximately 100 individuals selected for the program
  • Eligible dates for reimbursement: January – September 2025

How do I apply?

Complete the following items:

  • Application
  • Proof of Employment- FTE Attestation
  • Proof of Insurance
  • Most Recent Insurance Statement

Submit these items via email, fax or mail starting January 1, 2025 to J Keltner. Please note materials will reviewed on a first come first served basis.

What is the eligibility criteria?

  1. Resident of Kansas
  2. Full-time or part-time employee at a licensed childcare facility located in Kansas
  3. Enrolled in Marketplace or private health insurance and pay premiums out-of-pocket for health insurance
  4. Work as a provider or educator at a childcare facility

Are there other considerations for eligibility?

Preference will be given to:

  • Child care providers earning less than $45,000 per year
  • Professional currently without insurance
  • Home care providers

If you are eligible but do not fit these criteria you are still encouraged to apply.

What dates should I know?

  • January 1, 2025 Application opens
  • February 1, 2025 Application closes
  • Mid-March 2025 First disbursement
  • April 15th and July 15th Paperwork due for reimbursements
  • Mid-May 2025 and Mid-Sept 2025 Second and third disbursements
