The Family Leadership Team held its August Parent-Caregiver Fireside Chat: Prenatal to Postpartum: For expecting parents and infants to 12 months, featuring co-host Stephanie Wolf from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). This engaging session was dedicated to discussing essential resources tailored for Kansas expecting parents and infants to 12 months.
This collaborative discussion brought together healthcare professionals, support organizations, and parents and caregivers to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by expecting new parents and their infants. Through sharing of insights and experiences, participants identified new resources, highlighting a new website platform made available through the Kansas Perinatal Community Collaborative.
This site was created to provide evidence-based guidance and resources for all planning pregnancy, pregnant and postpartum individuals, caregivers, and their families. The site also serves as a resource for clinical providers.
Some highlights within the site include a map of services across Kansas, information on doula care, newborn care, and breastfeeding, and postpartum supports including online support groups. Also available is a free toolkit to create a community collaboration in your own town.
This event is led by the Family Leadership Team, in alignment with the All In For Kansas Kids Strategic Plan, with support from the University of Kansas Center for Public Partnerships and Research (KU-CPPR) and Help Me Grow Kansas (HMG KS). If you were unable to attend and have a valuable resource to share, please email Rachel Gardner at rachelgardner@ku.edu. If you are interested in learning more and/or being a part of the Family Leadership Team, please contact Cora Ungerer at cora.ungerer@ks.gov.
The visual notes drawn by Sara O’Keeffe, summarize prenatal and postpartum evidence-based guidance and resources for expecting and current parents in Kansas.
